This page is to record my ideas on how to make

changes in your favorite recipes, the objective being, less calories, better health. and more energy!


 

I have found that one to five bananas will replace most of

the sugar in recipes for puddings, cookies, custards, etc;

If you freeze them first, they are sweeter.

Depending on the frozen fruit, you can change flavors.

The way I decide how much additional honey or more fruit I should

use, I taste the batter (before eggs are added) .

The eggs won't change the sweetness.

I use eggs to make the recipes lighter and to make them have a rich

taste.

Eggs are good for you.

A healthy fat replacer, use Nana Flakes to reduce fat in baked items. 1/2 cup of fat = 1 tablespoon Nana Flakes and 3 tablespoons water).

Puts a fresh banana in your diet every day, 1/4C of Nana Flakes equals the nutrition of one fresh banana.

Replace butter and shortening with a small amount of extra virgin

olive oil. (you can add a small amount of butter for taste)

So far 1/8 cup (or in some cases, none), seems to do it.


I am now making flour from old fashioned rolled oats

(see Muffins De-lish recipe)

that is the secret ingredient in a famous cookie recipe.

(the popcorn flour at times needs a boost)

Don't use pumpkin pie spice

as the allspice in it makes the recipe tastes bitter.

A little more measuring is not that much work.


Milk and a little corn starch will make a thickened "white sauce'

To add flavor, use garlic crystals, cayenne, etc;

(a tiny touch of butter on the sauce after serving will make a tasty

difference. (1/2 tsp)

Now is a good time to give you the directions to make :

Red Pepper Tincture.

1 quart Vodka (make sure it is in a glass container)

(I use Phillips)

Pour into a two quart or bigger glass jar.

Add 1 cup of dried crushed red pepper

(I bought mine at Sam's club)

Let it 'work' for two weeks, (shake occasionally) then strain back into

the original Glass Vodka bottle. Mark it 'RED PEPPER TINCTURE'

Pour a small amount in a smaller bottle with a dispenser top.

(Label it 'Red Pepper Tincture')

This is a great way to add just the right

amount of red pepper to any dish.

 


If you want to try out flavors in your muffins, put some in your pancakes first. Make a small batch, do the math, and see if the combinations taste the way you expect.

Things I took away from the show.

Eat the same meals each day for breakfast and lunch for faster weight loss.

Cinnamon and red pepper help you lose weight faster.

Eat nuts 1/2 hour before meals. (just a few) so the signal will reach your brain

faster that you are full and satisfied.

Drink lots of plain water.

Walking is the best exercise, take 10,000 steps per day.

Read labels.

Stay away from words like enriched, corn syrup, trans fats, etc;

Your waist line measure is the best indicator of your health's future.

The ideal waistline for women is 32 and a half inches and 35 inches for a man

 

50 percent of the sugar we eat comes from "fat free" foods like salad dressings and soft drinks.

Healthy oils make your liver happy. (like olive oil)

Use it on salads with vinegar. (Omega 3's)

Cravings for certain things are caused by your moods.

(if you crave sweets, it can be because you are depressed,

salty crunchy....Stressed,

Pasta...lonely, ete;)
