Notice that most of these recipes have no sugar, very little oil, no butter or shortening, no flour except popcorn flour

and a little oatmeal flour on a few recipes.

~Spinach and Beans Over Hot Biscuits~

I had this for dinner last night.  YUM!  I made a double batch of "Morning Biscuits"

See Eat's and Treats page for biscuit recipe.

While they were baking... (18 minutes) I opened a can of pinto beans and one of spinach and drained them.  (Don't Puree) When they were thoroughly drained, I mixed them together with a teaspoon of my red pepper tincture...(you can use red pepper powder to taste)

I put a big spoonful over a hot biscuit and it was new and YUMMY!

That link is much better at explaining it than I ever could.

If you want a lot of Polaner Jam on your biscuits...Mix it with beans  One tablespoon to a can of beans, (drained and pureed of course) will taste like pure Jam.  It keeps for awhile in the fridge too.

(It works for peanut butter too , if you want your children to cut back on calories and get more protein)  (1 Tablespoon PB per can of beans)

Polaner is sold in 15.5 ounce sizes on the net.

How to Freeze Bananas for Cooking and Snacks

Buy bananas in any state of ripeness. (except over ripe)

As soon as they are slightly speckled, they are ripe and ready.

Peel the banana, take off the "strings"

Pop it into a pint size ziplock bag.

Place in freezer.

You never have to worry about throwing out bananas again!

A great frozen Snack!

OATMEAL FLOUR

Use Old fashioned oatmeal...ther is also steel cut

so far I have used Quaker Old fashioned.

I put it in my Vita-mix but think it will work in a blender.

Place one cup raw oatmeal into blender and spin to make flour.

This is a much more textured flour than popcorn flour, so I mix them

together in some recipes in order to get texture.

Use more popcorn flour when possible.

~Back to Yoga~

I had forgotten how beneficial Yoga is...then I found this link

It has videos that explain each move.

http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/index.cfm?ctsrc=tnav

It is a marvelous website where they explain each move in detail.

They provide a small and large Photo for you to see exactly how to do it.

I have read that if you just look at the pictures your body will respond...You will find yourself automatically sitting up straight, and will feel refreshed and relaxed after viewing them. Stretching is good for everyone and this site explains how to progress slowly.

A good diet seems to improve eyesight and also helps if you have trouble seeing clearly after dark.

Check out the link. You will be glad you did!

~Sirloin/Cabbage Dinner w/Sauce~

This is an exceptionally tasty dish!

Brown 2# very lean ground sirloin (May use just one pound if you desire)

(salt and pepper to taste)

in large heavy frying pan. (The browner the more flavor)

While it is browning,

Slice up one small Cabbage (slices may be large as they will cook down)

1 head of Cauliflower, (slices may be large as they will also cook down)

2 Large onions (chopped)

4 Tomatoes (sliced)

When sirloin is ready, pour all of the veggies into the pan with the meat plus 1/2 cup water and cover. (may need to transfer to a larger pan unless you have a frying pan that will hold all of this)

Stir

Turn down heat and simmer until veggies are cooked.

This makes 8 generous servings.

'White Sauce'

1 3/4 cups milk in sauce pan

bring to boil.

(Stir constantly)

In a measuring cup, put one fourth cup

whole milk add two tablespoons cornstarch.

stir until dissolved.

Pour slowly into saucepan of boiling milk.

Stir for one full minute after it comes to rapid boil.

then add

1 teaspoon each, chives, parsley, granulated garlic.

(fresh garlic if possible)

1 small grated onion

1/4 teaspoon salt.

Add to taste: pepper, and/or (red pepper) if desired.

Cheese in small amounts will taste good too.

Grated Parmesan cheese

Stir in and turn off heat. Take off burner.

Use for veggies or casseroles.

Small amount also tastes good poured over a hot, hard boiled egg.

The second day, the flavor goes in and tastes even better.

If it slightly seperates, just stir it before heating.

Not rich like the "real" white sauce, but quite good!

I added drained canned peas and canned salmon. Very Tasty!
