Crohn's Disease
I am not a medical doctor and thus do not attempt to treat people; but, in an effort to help a new friend, Barbara, who suffers from Crohn's Disease (CD), I performed a literature search, and thought deeply about the disease. Within this process I identified two new potential approaches that I thought might be helpful. Neither approach had been used for CD before. I provided Barbara with the results of my search along with my first theory about how CD might be remedied. She discussed it with her physician. She told me that he said that he didn't see how trying it would do her any harm. She had abdominal pain, which had lasted for more than three months with varying degrees of severity, even though she was under a doctor's care and her disease was in partial remission. Barbara decided to try the suggested remedy. She was working half days because of the inflammation, went home at noon as usual, purchased the material at a health food store at minimal cost and applied it. Her abdominal pain was reduced to a mild sensitivity within an hour. That was in February 1995. She was able to return to work full time shortly thereafter. Her disease has been under control ever since then without other medications being required. She gradually recovered her full physical strength and general health, and has noticed no ill side effects from the remedy

Check out the following hints and see URL below to find more like these!!
Period cramps making you miserable? Try fish oil capsules. The American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology gave fish oil to sufferers of severe cramps. After two months, the women could go on half their usual dose of painkillers. Take the highest strength of fish oil you can buy twice a day.
Cocoa powder actually protects your teeth by stopping sugar from attacking the enamel, says the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. And dark chocolate contains 70% cocoa! Chocolate also has nutritious goodies such as iron, calcium and protein. Chocoholics, our time has come!
Quickest cure for HICCUPS anyone? Well, according to a recent report in the New England Journal of Medicine, the fastest cure is to swallow a teaspoon of sugar!
Mushrooms, apart from being delicious morsels, are fantastic for pumping up your body's immunity and providing many essential nutrients? In fact, recent studies have even suggested that the big brown shiitake mushroom possesses an anti-viral substance which helps in fighting lung cancer and AIDS.
Athlete's foot, why not try rubbing it with garlic? This is because the chemicals produced by the garlic (which gives it its pungent smell) also has anti-fungal properties!
Lemons & Apples & Pears... Oh why?
Tired of hearing "an apple a day" already? Here are some hard fruit facts: besides being one of nature's most effective system cleaners, they assist in lowering blood & cholesterol levels, improving your circulatory & immune systems, providing one fifth of your daily dietary fibre intake & they're natural appetite suppressers too! Be fruitful!
Chocolate Hearts
. At last, the news we've been waiting for: chocolate is good for you! Chocolate contains flavonoids, the type of antioxidant thought to decrease risk of heart disease. (Flavonoids are also found in green tea, and fruits and vegetables like strawberries, blueberries, spinach and kale.) A series of new studies published in the August issue of The Journal of Nutrition bolster evidence of chocolate's health benefits, but researchers warn against confusing it for a health food. In the form most of us eat it, chocolate is filled with fat and calories, which in large quantity outweigh any possible benefits. But, as with anything, it's fine when incorporated into a well-balanced diet. So, go ahead and eat it. It's good for you.
Eggs-Cellent News!
For a balanced diet, cholesterol-heavy eggs have always been high on the unacceptable list. Nutritionists have recommended keeping to a minimum of three eggs a week to stay healthy. But now omelet fans can rejoice as a new study comes out of the Harvard School of Health disproving any links between heart disease and eggs. The author of the study, Donald McNamara says to take the lead from Japan, where a national diet heavy in eggs, fish and vegetables now has the country boasting one of the lowest rates of heart disease in the world. Avoid sunny-side up or fried eggs and stick to poaching, boiling and scrambling in order to reap the benefits of their high protein and vitamin content without the side effects of saturated fats
Period cramps bad enough to make you cry? Instead of loading up on painkillers, try cutting back on dairy products. The artificial hormones in them can overstimulate the reproductive system, leading to period pains.
Hangover cure here!
To get that party outta your head, down 75g of Vitamin B supplement before your first drink. Then add zinc which neutralises the toxins, evening primrose oil to stabilise your system, and magnesium to get rid of that sloshed, fuzzy feeling.
Forget champagne and oysters. Health experts now say go for fruit aphrodisiacs. It seems mangoes, peaches & strawberries are loaded with a mineral called boron, which stimulates energy & sexual appetite.
NOW...Weren't those INTERESTING????

SILVER FILLINGS!!
At issue are those silver-colored fillings that dot most people's teeth. Referred to by the dental profession as silver amalgam, the fillings are actually about half mercury, with some silver, copper, tin and zinc mixed in.
Mercury opponents argue that mercury vapor coming from the fillings seeps into the body, contributing to a range of health problems from fatigue and immunity suppression to neurological diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

Great Advice on Back Pain...Don't miss this one!!!
I am convinced, through experience teaching The O'Connor Technique (tm), that, for the average person with back pain, it is possible for a patient of normal intelligence with no medical training to identify, without expensive modalities, the exact origin and site of the pain and thereby learn to make their own diagnosis. This is done by performing specific movements of the spine and focusing on what happens to the pain. These movements can be categorized and technically defined as a DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUMDUCTION because the movements employed constitute what is known in anatomical or orthopedic parlance as "CIRCUMDUCTION."

HERPES
An Acclaimed Herpes Information Resource,
Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is a virus that people contract through blood transfusions or sexual contact. There are approximately 3.9 million Americans with Hepatitis C and 36,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. Patients are treated with antiviral therapy, which has been found to be effective in 10 to 40 percent of patients.
Jensen and other Rush hepatologists noticed patients were taking these therapies and were concerned about the medication's effect on their health and on the clinical trials
Rush is conducting. "It is not known what effect, if any, these therapies have on the data that comes from clinical trials," he said. "This is the first step toward understanding the role alternative therapies play in Hepatitis C treatment." The patients surveyed were undergoing treatment with antiviral therapy for their condition.
In response, Rush asked 60 patients between April and June 1999 about their use of alternative therapies. Half of those patients indicated they take vitamins or minerals, with 55 percent reporting regular use of folic acid, 52 percent taking multivitamins, 28 percent using vitamin E, 23 percent taking vitamin C and 20 percent on calcium.
Forty percent of those questioned said they take herbal preparations, with milk thistle (25 percent) and St. John's Wort (8 percent) leading the way. Milk thistle has been touted by some as a liver-protecting herb, because it contains an ingredient called silymarin. Many people take St. John's Wort to relieve depression, which is a common side effect of the Hepatitis C medication interferon.

SLS Free Shampoos!!
Shampoo brands that don't use SLS Avalon Natural Products in Petulma, CA uses organic
botanicals (and some non-organics) and no SLS. The lemon and verbena
shampoo I've been using has a nice, light lather, but no SLS. Zia Cosmetics out
of San Fransisco makes wonderful skin care products that contain no SLS.
They use plant extracts and essential oils. The cleansing gel I've been
using has glycerin in it which leaves a light film if you just rinse...but
using a loofah will take care of that. Doubles as a great shave gel,
too...with no foam. Either line should be available at an organic
grocer.
