Great-Looking Wave Petunias
Purple, pink, and lavender wave petunias make gorgeous
hanging plants. Unfortunately, they rarely look better than
just after you bring them home from the nursery. Sold for
their "maintenance-free" qualities, these plants lead many
gardeners to think they do not need to pinch spent blossoms
from the stems. True, they'll keep blooming if you don't,
but the plants can get pretty leggy.
To keep them looking full and healthy, pinch off (or cut
with scissors) the spent flowers including part of the
stem. Just removing the flowers, and not the base of the
flower that includes the tiny seed pods, won't work.
Also, fertilize every month or so with a water soluble
fertilizer such as Miracle Gro, Watch Us Grow, or a generic
brand.
: WHAT TO DO IF YOU LOSE YOUR PURSE OR WALLET:
THIS IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION
( A big thank you to the person who sent this information via e-mail)
WHAT TO DO IF YOU LOSE YOUR PURSE OR WALLET:
We've all heard horror stories about fraud that's committed using your
name, address, SS#, credit, etc.
Unfortunately I (author of this piece) have first hand knowledge,
because my wallet was stolen last month and within a week the
thieve(s) ordered an expensive monthly cell phone package, applied
for a VISA credit card, had a credit line approved to buy a Gateway
computer, received a PIN number from DMV to change my driving
record information online, and more.
But here's some critical information to limit the damage in case
this happens to you or someone you know.
As everyone always advises, cancel your credit cards immediately,
but the key is having the toll free numbers and your card numbers
handy so you know who to call. Keep those where you can find
them easily (having to hunt for them is additional stress you WON'T
need at that point!). On a personal note, I remember loosing a MC
and until I got the toll free number from information, etc. I was a
wreck.
File a police report immediately in the jurisdiction where it was
stolen, this proves to credit providers you were diligent, and is a
first step toward an investigation (if there ever is one).
But here's what is perhaps most important: I never ever thought to
do this. Call the three national credit reporting organizations
immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and SS#. I had
never heard of doing that until advised by a bank that called to tell
me an application for credit was made over the Internet in my
name. The alert means any company that checks your credit
knows your information was stolen and they have to contact
> you by phone to authorize new credit.
By the time I was advised to do this - almost 2 weeks after the theft
all the damage had been done (there are records of all the credit
checks initiated by the thieves' purchases, none of which I knew
about before placing the alert).
Since then, no additional damage has been done, and the
thieves threw my wallet away this weekend (someone turned it in).
It seems to have stopped them in their tracks. The numbers are:
Equifax 1-800 525-6285
Experian (formerly TRW) 1-800-301-7195
Trans Union 1-800-680-7289
Social Security Administration also has a fraud line at 1-800-269-0271
Safe Cheese Grating
Try this simple method to help you avoid injury while
grating cheese. Lay your box grater (the four-sided type)
flat on a cutting board with the desired grating size face
up. Place your hand inside the grater to firmly hold it on
the board. This will provide a safer horizontal working
surface. The grated cheese will simply fall onto the back
of your hand.
I have one of those marvelous pizza stones that you warm in the oven
and it keeps the pizza warm. Took a dish to a friend 20 miles from
here, put the dish on top of the warmed stone, wrapped the whole thing
in towels to hold in the heat. The dish was hot and delicious when we
arrived.

Summary of the claims made for MSM. .
MSM is an organic sulfur compound. It is the fourth most commonplace mineral in the human body. MSM originates from the ocean, but works its way into our food supply. Unfortunately, any type of processing or heating destroys MSM. Unlike other types of sulfur, MSM is a bio-available form: the human body needs and uses it.
MSM makes cells more permeable allowing the flow of nutrients in and toxins out. This organic sulfur is used by the body to synthesize collagen, keratin, amino acids, insulin, immunoglobins
Used to treat:
Allergies
Sore Joints and Muscles
Chronic Fatigue
Elevated Cholesterol
Candida 'Yeast' Infections
Soft & Chipping Nails

Homemade Skunk Odor Removal Shampoo
Mix the following ingredients together right before use. Do
NOT save any that is left over.
Combine in a large container or bucket:
1/4 cup baking soda;
1 quart 3 percent hydrogen peroxide;
1 teaspoon dishwashing liquid.
The mixture will be very foamy. Wet the affected area
thoroughly and work the mixture into the coat. Use a sponge
on the face if the dog's head has been sprayed. Do not get
the solution in the dog's eyes, ears, nose, or mouth. If
you can, leave the shampoo on for a few minutes before
rinsing. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Don't expect anything to
completely work with just one application.
De-Skunking
Loss of habitat is forcing more and more wildlife into
populated areas, so even if you are a city dweller, your
dog may encounter a skunk. There are several products on
the market made specifically for removing skunk spray. Two
such products are "Nature's Miracle Skunk Odor Remover" by
Nature's Miracle, and "Skunk Off" by Thornwell Corporation.
Some suggestions for bathing a dog who has skunk odor:
Before handling your dog, you may want to change your
clothes. Skunk spray is very difficult to remove from
clothing. Cover the dog's bed with something to protect it.
Leaving the dog outdoors for a while will greatly reduce
the odor.
Determine where the spray hit the dog. Depending on your
dog's hair type, you may be able to trim away or comb out
some of the affected hair.
When you're ready to wash the dog, only clean the sprayed
area. Skunk spray is oily and can easily be spread all over
the dog. Since you will likely have to repeat the
procedure, save an all-over bath until the second or third
washing.
Removing Strong Food Odors
The lasting odors of full-flavored foods such as onions,
garlic, and seafood sometimes leave a lasting reminder on
your hands after cooking. The scent can usually be removed
by simply washing your hands, rubbing on lemon juice (fresh
or bottled), and then re-washing again.
A concoction of ginger, onion, basil (tulsi) juice and honey, if taken regularly,is therapeutic in Asthma
Carrot juice accompanied by spinach juice in the ratio of 2:1, taken thrice a day relieves Asthma.
To cure asthma, pour 1 1/2 cups of hot water over 1 tsp ground ginger. Take 1 tsp lukewarm at bedtime.
When making powdered fruit drinks I measure the sugar and drink mix
into the pitcher and then add 1 cup hot water, stir and add remaining
water. The hot water dissolves the sugar. No more sugar at the
bottom of the pitcher.
(Heat kills vitamin C tho...if it has any)
Peeling Hard-Boiled Eggs
The shells of hard-boiled eggs are easy to remove if done
so while the eggs are still slightly warm from cooking.
Refrigerating them with the shells on tends to bind the
outer covering to the cooked egg. Briefly cool the eggs in
running water after cooking. Peel the eggs, cover them, and
store them in the refrigerator until needed. They should
keep well for two to three days.
You don't need to peel tomatoes before putting them in the freezer!
Pick, wash and freeze your tomatoes whole. Then when it's time to use
them, rinse them under water and the skins slide off - presto! Easy.
Ready to use in soups or sauces.

Make a huge Pot of Cauliflower soup.
One huge cauliflower cut in pieces.
Just enough water to steam boil until partially tender.
2 small cans of aspargus tips.
(or use fresh aspargus)
Pinch of basil..pinch of cayenne.
Lemon thyme if you have it.
To the cooked cauliflower add one quart half and half
1 cup cooked chicken breast (if desired)
Simmer on low until just right to eat.
OH YUM!!!
Something to think about!!
The pharmacological
properties of plants are generally DUE to the plant "wanting" to poison
something. The nicotine in tobacco, for example, is there as an
insecticide (and a good one).
The plant doesn't make it so that
addicted humans will burn tobacco plants in the process of giving
themselves lung cancer.
(Smoking in an enclosed vehicle with your children may someday
be considered child abuse.)
Regret is one of the few guaranteed certainties.
