four (or more) of the following symptoms develop abruptly and reach a
peak within 10 minutes: (1) palpitations, pounding heart or accelerated
heart rate; (2) sweating; (3) trembling or shaking; (4) sensations of
shortness of breath or smothering; (5) feeling of choking; (6) chest
pain or discomfort; (7) nausea or abdominal distress; (8) feeling dizzy,
unsteady, lightheaded or faint; (9) derealization (feelings of
unreality) or depersonalization (being detached from oneself); (10) fear

Ok....So you are having Anxiety Attacks or Panic Disorder......well say goodbye to them as after you read this they will be history! Been there...done that and IT SUCKED!
If it is any consolation...only very intelligent people seem to get them. It is because we think so much faster than the average person. It starts out usually with being excited about something or worried about something and your brain starts adding one more thing after another...including something on the evening news....(I personally think the brain enjoys doing this) You aren't totally conscious of what is happening..fast thinkers just do it. Usually it starts when you are alone...but once you get good at it you can do it anywhere. I had four before I figured it all out. Let see...where was I? See what I mean? Oh yeah...you are thinking about one thing after another consciously or otherwise and you start breathing faster and faster...as if you were running in a dream...surely you have awakened from a nightmare sweating and breathing fast? Well now you are doing it in broad daylight...fully awake....As you breathe faster and faster and you begin thinking OMG..I am having another anxiety attack...believe me...YOU are on YOUR way. This is where you say to yourself...OH NO YOU DON'T!!!! Then you cup your hands over your nose and mouth and start breathing in the same air..over and over. The reason for this is that you have actually changed the chemicals in your body from taking in too much oxygen. Now you have to change them back. It is simple....keep breathing into your hands...(some use a paper bag) until you feel all the tingly stupid feelings subside....and THEY WILL! I got so good at anxiety attacks that the fourth one caused me to get paralyzed on the right side of my body!!!
Now how is that for Intelligence????? LOL Yes I am laughing. You will too once you see how ridiculous the entire thing is. Doctors will never tell you this...they will prescribe pills to relax you and you will become dependent on drugs. Don't go that way!!!! It is a simple thing with an even simpler solution.
For me...a very... very good thing came out of my attacks....I have a deep respect for what the brain can do. This now works to my advantage and it will even more so as I get older.
Here is an example: Say that a person would have a bad case of indigestion...and they hadn't learned to keep their thinking in check. How long do you think it would take you to stress yourself into a heart attack?
This is how the brain can be trained . YOU DECIDE! The brain is a powerful computer. An anxiety attack is similar to your computer on it's own opening every file (with Macs we call them Folders) in the hard drive and throwing them on your desktop!
If the body developes disease...the brain can and will fix it if you direct it to do so. Having experienced these attacks...You too will be a believer. So you see..something good can come out of seemingly bad experiences.
So why keep having them? Anxiety attacks in themselves can't hurt you...you will just keep breathing fast until you pass out. Then your breathing will normalize and you will regain consciousness. Just breathe into your hands when you feel it starting. Let your brain know that you are not in the mood for these little games. You are in charge.. Take Control.....Kes

Attention!
I have had over ONE MILLION visitors to this, My AOL Site in the last nine years.
The counter kept reverting back to zero, but I kept my own records each week.
I have now attached my two sites together under one counter starting at 2000.

I hope I will not have any more trouble with counters. Sincerely, Kesti
