Do YOU drink enough???

You need:

Half a fluid ounce of water for each pound of body weight...daily!

Anybody Thirsty?

Interesting information..........

We all know that water is important but I've never

seen it written down like this before.

75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

(Likely applies to half world pop.)

In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is

so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's

metabolism as much as 3%.

One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for

almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.

Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a

day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of

sufferers.

A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term

memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the

computer screen or on a printed page.

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon

cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%,

and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

If you have swollen ankles and feel bloated..it may well be that you are

suffering from DEhydration..YES!!! Dehydration.

The body is trying to store extra water as it never gets enough.

Drink more and see if you don't feel better!!!!!

 Global Home health..dehydration link

http://www.watercure.com/
Water is great medicine, needed to maintain a healthy body, a clear mind, and a good balance within your tissues. There's more water in your body than anything else, with every cell containing mostly water. About 60 percent of your body is water, and you must constantly replenish the supply, as it's used up in the processes of life. Many people fail to drink enough of it.

When you don't have enough water in your body, your cells start to draw water from the bloodstream. The blood gets sludgy, your heart has to work harder, and your body starts to redirect blood away from less vital areas. Dehydration can set in even before you start to feel thirsty. This is a great strain on the body because it impairs the kidneys in their vital function of purifying the blood and helping the body get rid of toxins.

If you've lost just 2 percent of your body weight in water, your brain power and performance level may start to weaken. Another 4 to 7 percent may leave you feeling dizzy.

The standard recommendation is to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses a day. I'm not sure you need to force that much down, but do try to drink as much as you can, and more than you think you need. When you're exercising, you need even more water because you're sweating and losing water through deep breathing. Of course, warm temperatures also

increase water loss. Just walking for an hour on a warm day may increase your requirement by two glasses or more. An hour of tennis could require anywhere from two to ten extra glasses.

Drink extra water whenever you think of it. When you start to notice an increase in urination, you're doing a good job. Even better, you'll notice your urine lightening up, looking less concentrated. Some people keep two quarts of water in the refrigerator and make sure they empty them every day.

Also, keep in mind you don't have to limit yourself to water. You can drink highly diluted fruit juice, herbal tea, or a well-watered-down sports drink. Sparkling water with a little fruit juice or lemon is also nice. All of these count toward your 64 ounces a day. Drinks like cola, though, work against the count, because caffeine is a diuretic and removes fluid from the body. Three cups of coffee or tea are comparable to just two cups of water.

Someone in chat said that she read that a Doctor held in one of Sadamm's prisons was able to kick his disease

drinking up to 7 gallons of water -- it was all he had.

Next to oxygen, water is the most important substance in the body. The

average adult body contains approximately 45 pints of water and excretes

about 32 pints daily through perspiration, respiration, urine and

defecation. The internal temperature of the body is controlled with

water. The average body temperature is 98.6o Fahrenheit. If it rises

above this temperature we become feverish. If it falls below, we are

physically affected. Water makes up 92% of the blood in the body and

nearly 98% of intestinal, gastric, saliva and pancreatic juices. Many

people have a dehydrated appearance. Their skin looks parched, withered,

dry and old. Look at the dry and withered hands of many people. Look at

the wrinkles on their foreheads and around their eyes. See how a curtain

of dry flesh hangs over their eyes. Such people seem to squint out of

little eye slits to see.

Many people are chronically constipated, another sign of dehydration.

Many people suffer from burning, irritating urination, which is also a

sign of water starvation.

Inorganic Salt is a Health Wrecker

Another side of water imbalance is due to the excess use of inorganic

salt and salty foods, which leads to the waterlogged human. You see

young children 7 to 10 or more years old who are so waterlogged that

they look grotesque. Some of these children have bloated and middle

aged-looking bodies. Just compare them to the adults with their bloated

and puffed-up faces, arms, bellies, legs, ankles and feet.

The amount of water a body needs depends on temperature, climate, one's

activities and general health. When you drink a glass of water it goes

directly to your stomach. Part of the water is absorbed directly into

your bloodstream through the walls of your stomach. The remainder goes

to your intestines to keep the food you eat in a liquid state while it

is being absorbed; this water is later absorbed directly into the blood.

Drinking the right kind of water is one of your best natural protections

against all kinds of virus infections, such as influenza, pneumonia,

whooping cough, measles and other infectious diseases.

Doctors advise bed-rest and plenty of water for the flu. When the body

tissues and cells are kept well supplied with the correct amount of

water, they can fight off viral attacks. If the body's cells are

water-starved, they become parched, dry and shrivel, making it easy for

viruses to attack.

Always bear in mind the important functions of the right kind of water

in your body. Water is a vital component of all body fluids, tissues,

cells, lymph, blood and glandular secretions. Water holds all nutritive

factors in solution and acts as a transportation medium to the various

parts of the body for these substances. The mucous membranes need plenty

of water to keep them soft and free from friction on their delicate

surfaces. Liquid is necessary for the proper digestion of food. The

stomach acts as a powerful churn to break down food into small

particles.

Water Flushes Toxins Out of the Body

One of the most important functions of water is to flush the toxins and

salt from the body. Unfortunately, people the world over use large

amounts of salt. From centuries ago to the present day, there have been

countries that have never known what salt is and whose people were still

healthy and happy.

The Japanese are known to be the world's highest consumers of table or

inorganic salt (sodium chloride). A Japanese farmer who lives to be 60

years of age eats approximately 2 ounces of salt every day of his life

and filters through his kidneys 2,737.5 pounds or 1.36 tons of salt in

his lifetime!

Americans are not far behind the Japanese in the consumption of salt.

Not only do Americans add plenty of salt to their foods, they also eat

large amounts of salty foods including ham, bacon, hot dogs, luncheon

meats, corned beef, potato chips, salted nuts and many other foods with

high concentrations of salt. No wonder heart disease is the # 1 killer

in America! No wonder people in their 30's suffer from high blood

pressure, kidney trouble, arthritis and the greatest of all killers,

arteriosclerosis or the hardening of the arteries, veins and blood

vessels!

The proper amount and right kind of water helps to keep cholesterol

levels down. Remember, water is a flushing agent. In our opinion, the

right kind of water is Mother Nature's greatest beauty and health tonic.

In our long career as nutritional and fitness advisors to the greatest

stars of films and TV, we have found that, when we can persuade the

stars to use the correct liquids, they retain an ageless face, form and

figure much longer than the person who drinks ordinary water. Pure water

keeps the body cells normal and prevents dehydration. The face and neck

remain free of ageing lines and wrinkles while the entire body retains

its youthful characteristics longer.

Water is Important to Superb Health

People who drink the right kind and amount of liquids (distilled water,

fresh fruits and vegetables and their juices) have better circulation,

which is most important to Super Health and long life.

In our opinion, the right kind of water helps improve your mind and

brain power. We really believe that it makes you think better and more

accurately! You have 15 billion powerful brain cells which are 70%

water.

We also think that the excessively nervous and/or mentally upset person

is so obsessed with his own worries and "hangups" that he just forgets

to drink water and other liquids of the right kind. Instead, he dopes

himself on alcohol, tea, coffee and cola drinks which only complicate

his nervous condition by introducing burning, toxic acid into his

stomach with no food or water to dilute it. So on top of his nervousness

and depression, he suffers from sour acid stomach, heartburn, gas-bloat

and other miseries. Instead of drinking sufficient water, these people

dope up on aspirin, cigarettes and stimulants.

Remember that the nerves need the correct amount of water to function

properly and smoothly. You can plainly see that it is possible to suffer

from water starvation. Here is a way that you can help yourself to

health, the Natural Liquid Way!

Water Can Help Some Heart Patients

It can prevent blood clots

Sometimes the best medical treatment is as close as your faucet. Plain old water sometimes acts like a drug.

Water may help to treat certain people with low blood pressure, and drinking the right amount each day can discourage blood clots that increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. By the way, sweetened, caffeinated or alcoholic drinks don't count; only pure water works.

Researchers at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., discovered that a large glass of water can raise blood pressure an average of 40 millimeters of mercury (mm/Hg) in certain patients with a nervous system disorder that causes low blood pressure. Water has a similar effect in older people who often suffer a type of low blood pressure when they stand. This is called orthostatic hypotension. In healthy young people, drinking water doesn't alter blood pressure.

A report in Science Daily explains that plain water could act as potently as some drugs for selected people with low blood pressure.

Another function of water is to enhance the negative charge that red blood cells carry. This helps blood cells to repel each other and prevent clumps and clots. A feature from The Times of London describes water's other functions, and why other beverages don't compare with water, even when they're mostly water themselves.

While you're doing all this drinking, make sure you're not adding new toxins to your body. Drink high-quality bottled water or, better still, get a water-purification system for your home.
